Pandemic Response Challenge

$500k

Prize Purse

The Pandemic Response Challenge is a $500K, four-month challenge that focuses on the development of data-driven AI systems to predict COVID-19 infection rates and prescribe Intervention Plans (IPs) that regional governments, communities, and organizations can implement to minimize harm when reopening their economies.

Overview

Impact

Today there are over 55 million documented COVID-19 cases and over 1.3 million deaths, impacting countries and territories worldwide. As vaccines are developed and countries implement recovery plans, regional authorities lack the ability to test “what if” intervention plans that optimize COVID-19 mitigation strategies while reducing the economic and social impacts.

The road forward on reopening global economies will be paved by collaboration.

The Challenge

XPRIZE and Cognizant have partnered to launch the Pandemic Response Challenge. The Pandemic Response Challenge will catalyze the development of data-driven systems to construct plans that regional governments, communities, and organizations can implement to minimize harm when reopening their economies. $500,000 in prizes will be awarded by XPRIZE to teams who develop prediction models that estimate daily COVID-19 cases with greatest accuracy and create prescriptive models that minimize infection cases and economic costs.

This challenge could be a game changer when it comes to using data and AI to create a route to recovery.
